Work in Progress Wednesday - {31-08-11}

Hi Everyone!
 Sorry for my lack of blogging ATM, but these last two weeks have been hectic what with two weddings,( one being my Mother in laws this Friday) also my eldest children return to school on Monday, so I have been trying to spend quality time with them.
I am so busy Making crochet and sewing stuff for our winter range at Jane & Michael that I don’t really have time to make stuff for me! But I did cast on a caponcho  for me, as it’s a easy pick and put down project, I am not counting rows, and I can tell by the lace stiches where I am in the pattern, So super easy, managing to get a few rows in.
I have been getting Phoenix’s play area in the shabby shed ready for next week; I brought some lovely mustard paint, and will be revamping some of his furniture.
I have so many FOs to show, but this Friday I am at a wedding, and next Friday, I will flying to Egypt with my hubby to celebrate our wedding anniversary for a few days on our own., so they will have to wait a couple of weeks.
Have a lovely rest of the week!..and a Great weekend!

Weekend update - { buttons and new colourways}

Hello everyone,
Been very busy since Friday,
Saturday I spent the whole day dyeing yarn, I really love baby Alpaca I would love my whole bed to made out of it hehe
Did you know that It is It is warmer than wool, which is great as its not prickly at all!!
It bears no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Making this yarn perfect for people with sensitive skin and/or babies!
Below are the pictures of colour ways I created. And are now available in my Etsy store to purchase

On Sunday I left the children with hubby and went treasure hunting at the car boot on my own, I found looks of gorgeous buttons! In particular so fantastic glass buttons with butterflies in the centre, I don’t think I will be able to let these ones go, so I am going to have to make myself something so I can wear them.
I also found some spice storage which I have repurposed as my button holder, it twist’s around as well like a lazy Suzan {eeee}
I then stumbled on this awesome damn troll! Which I know is not to everyone’s taste! But as a troll collector as a kid, I could not let this one go! He is huge!! The lady who was selling him told me it was brought for in the 60s when she was a little girl! {I love it when I know the history of the stuff I have thrift!} She only wanted £3 for it!! And it’s in amazing condition!

Sophia has declared it to be a she! And I am making her some new clothes out of vintage scraps, I will keep the original outfit tucked away somewhere safe!
I also found this awesome vintage weaved basket which reminds me of the lunch pail out of wizard of oz {bizarre I know as the lunch pail was metal hehe) and I am using it to store my lace at the moment, but if I do take Phoenix out for a mini picnic you can be sure I will be using the basket lmao!
I also found a couple of cute glass paper weights, and a salt and pepper pot.
Sophia also lost her very first tooth!, she was so excited about the tooth fairy that she insisted that she cleaned the tooth, and ended up dropping it down the sink :s needless to say it took a fair few hours to calm her down and convince her that a tooth fairy was small and cleaver enough to fit down the sink and find tooth without coming to any harm lol
Are any of you using instagram? I can be found @ astashaddict and janeandmichael
Its official I am completely addicted to instagram, as soon as I make something or find something, it’s the first place it gets uploaded to! { I apologise to those of you who have seen all these pictures already! Hehe } its brilliant if you, have an iPhone I recommend it!
And look who got delivered today!!
She was made in the 1960s as a twiggy inspired mannequin and is now my new model!
Her make up could do with a retouch, which is now on my ever growing list of restore projects lol
And last but least I am pleased to say that one science table is now complete! {eee} pictures will be put up Friday!
I tested it out last night with a little sewing project, need to make myself a sewing wallet to keep my bits and bobs together when thrown in my project bag.
I made it out of vintage scraps and a vintage button, lovely and shabby!
well thats all for now, i Will be back tomorrow with my WIP xx

FO and Creative Friday {19-08-11}

Morning!
Today I have my completed felted balls, which are made by a combination of welt and needle felting, they also have a bell inside, which produces a rattle once felted.
These balls are great from birth, especially once your child is able to hold their own head while having some tummy time, because of the interesting colours and textures to look at.
Once your child is able to grasp, the balls when moved produce an interesting rattle.
The balls are very light, they won’t hurt if dropped or thrown, they are made of 100% wool, and the fibres are dyed with natural dyes and can be washed if they get dirty.
My son is now 21months and he loves the collection of balls I have made him, his biggest being the size of a football. They get played with every day, and now that he is perfecting his aim, I am very thankful they don’t hurt when one catches you off guard lol
I also have my own collect of balls on display for decorative purposes, and our cat shadow, has his own set of cat sized balls with bells in, which he loves!! Lol.
We will be adding more designs and sizes on to our etsy shop, and also creating a free tutorial for those of you who want ago at making some yourself.

 Hope you all have a lovely weekend! and the sun is out where you are!
This weekend I will be working on our 1950s school tables I have one side completed, I am using decoupage on the legs with some vintage fabric and leaving the tops bare. I am absolutely in love with them!
I will also be going treasure hunting on sunday at the car boot {eeeee}
Bye for now xx

Work in Progress Wednesday - {17-08-11}

Hello Wednesday :)
Very quick WIP from me this week!
I found two, old desks  on ebay, which were originally science lab tables made out of Arizonan wood which were installed in Havant collage in the 1950s, we went up to the collage on Monday to collect them.
As you can image and see from photos, they were heavily stained, drawn over and lots of gum stuck underneath! {yuck!}
Last two days I have been stripping the varnish, and today I managed to get the tops back to the bare wood!. Which is just beautiful!!?
Shabby shed is coming along, just need to finish painting the outside!
I also need to finish felting my balls, and put them up on etsy.
 better picture of the felted balls will be on FO Friday :)
As I said short one from me this week, need to get back on with painting =)
have a lovely rest of the week! xx

FO and Creative Friday {12-08-11}

Yay it’s the weekend!, hope you have all had a lovely productive week!
Have a few things to show you this week, first up are the crochet Hats I have been making for our Etsy shop,
 I had to bribe Phoenix to model with food hehe so excuse the food in his mouth! My other tiny model is a rather ugly looking doll, Sophia isn’t in to dolls, so this is the only one we have in the house, and the hat didn’t look right on her teddies.
The dolls are wearing 0-6 months, Phoenix 12 months to 3 and Sophia has 3 to 10 this pattern goes up to adult {yes I am making myself  one hehe} original pattern is by speckledfrogcrochet and the yarn I am using is Marble chunky!
The other Fo this week is my giant toft bag, some of you will remember that I brought the kit at knit nation in July, the bag was a great quick knit, using 20mm circulars and of course toft beautiful alpaca yarn  which was a pleasure to knit with!
This weekend, hubbys on a stag do till Sunday, so not only to do I get the whole bed to myself, but I can get in to my creative zone with the children, and get some serious crafting done without interruptions or feeling guilty for not spending quality time with him at the weekend when he has been at work all week.
I have so much raw fibre for spinning, which i am going to dye this weekend.
 My shabby shed should be ready for me to move into Sunday {eeeeee} and I still have the exterior to paint pale Jasmine and a trip to Ikea to get storage and desks.{ but will save ikea till next weekend!}
  I am hoping to get lots of wet felted balls done this weekend as well, for our shop, I brought some large bells to go in centre, I made a load for Phoenix last Christmas and still today they are his favourite toys, plus they don’t hurt when thrown at your face!! lol  and they look and feel much nicer then tennis balls!
These are some of the ones i made Phoenix.
i could go on and on lol, but i will spare you =)!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you may have planned and the sun is shining where you are!
